Chennai, August 2023: Central Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, who is a source of inspiration for millions, paid his respects to the former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on his fifth death anniversary at his memorial site “Sadaiv Atal.”
Vajpayee Ji remained the face of the Bharatiya Janata Party for decades and served as the Prime Minister of the country thrice. Among the founders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, AtalJi always prioritized the nation’s welfare. He remains a source of inspiration for the ruling party and the opposition. Shah said, “Atal Ji’s patriotism, dedication, and commitment will continue to inspire generations to serve the nation.”
In 2014, after assuming office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Atal Ji’s birthday on December 25th would be celebrated as “Good Governance Day” in his honour. Shah firmly believes that Atal Ji, a statesman, unlocked India’s capabilities.
The foundation of development and governance that Atal Ji laid and the sense of nationalism he instilled in the public have been carried forward by the BJP government under Modi’s leadership and Amit Shah’s guidance for the past 9 years.
The significant aspect of this occasion was that, for the first time, leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were invited to “Sadaiv Atal” to pay tribute to Vajpayee Ji. It was the first instance when the Bharatiya Janata Party extended an invitation to NDA allies to offer their respects at the memorial of the former PM. This gesture holds importance for the upcoming general elections next year, signifying the unity and strength of the NDA and conveying its significance to the opposition.
