Filmmakers and photographers from BRICS countries confess their love for Moscow, while the WOWMOSCOW contest names its winner

The results of the International Video Competition “WOWMOSCOW”, which was held in the framework of the festival and forum “Forum Moscow 2030 – the Home of the Future” announced. The award ceremony on the territory of VDNKh, in the Museum of Cinema. The winner Audyarahma Takha, a student at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), a partner university of HSE UniversitySt. Petersburg. The main prize was the chance to make a film about Moscow, which was presented on August 24 in the Small Amphitheatre of Zaryadye Park as part of the Moscow International Film Week.

“I didn’t know much about the city before I came here. First of all, I imagined a picture which formed in my head as I was a child — St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square. Being here for the first time, I was amazed by the diversity of Moscow, it exceeded all my expectations. The combination of historical heritage and modernity inspired me to create a script about life in this city,” Takha shared her emotions after victory.

Earlier, the International Photo Exhibition “Big Cities in Moscow” opened in the capital. It featured the works of photographers from Russia, India, Brazil, China, and South Africa at 10 venues all around the city. The participants of the project attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition and also spent almost two weeks shooting in Moscow – they aim to capture the modern beauty of the city and later confessed their love Moscow:

“Moscow city is great. I liked this city the most after my own city. I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions at the “Underground Museum” on the Zaryadye Park territory and across other locations. I like the people on the street and their discipline” said Venkatesan Perumal from India.

“For me, what is interesting is finding different of history mixed in the street via architecture. I think Moscow has a very interesting landscape because of that mix. We can see a variety of periods and it designs an intriguing and beautiful cityscape. Moscow is an easy place to be, great hospitality, easy to commute, good for walking, I had nice impression. And I love when I find parts of the exhibition by chance, just walking around. I think it translates the spirit of the photographer’s work” said Leticia Lampert from Brazil.

“On a par with the main sights, I would like to mention the large number of cultural events that take place in parallel in different parts of Moscow – their scale and variety are impressive,” said Liu Yang, a participant from China.

“Forum Moscow 2030 – the Home of the Future” is a large-scale forum-festival dedicated to the development of the megacity, urbanism and innovations. The cycle of events lasts til September 8 and held at more than 30 sites in different of the city. Innovations, the achievements of Moscow-based manufacturers, the latest achievements of urban planning and urban economy, plans for the development of transportation, advanced technologies in health care and education, creative industries and sports are waiting for Muscovites and guests of the city. The flagship sites of “Forum Moscow 2030 – the Home of the Future” are located in the city cent, Luzhniki, Expocentre and Skolkovo.
