Chennai, March 04: The Madras Art Guild, supported by the Yuj Foundation, is set to bring the rich cinematic heritage of Japan to Chennai. Through a special cultural partnership with the Consulate General of Japan in Chennai, this year’s edition expands its artistic dialogue beyond borders, integrating Japanese art and culture into the festival. On March 9th, it will feature an exclusive Japanese Cinema showcase, offering audiences a glimpse into Japan’s rich storytelling heritage and cinematic artistry.

The festival’s special screening will feature a selection of acclaimed Japanese films, including award-winning dramas such as The Lines That Define Me and And So the Baton Is Passed, the sci-fi comedy MONDAYS: See You This Week, the alternate-history anime The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and the heartfelt comedy BL Metamorphosis. This carefully curated line-up showcases the depth of Japanese cinema, spanning diverse genres and themes that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.
The event not only marks a significant cultural exchange but also reinforces the festival’s mission to create a vibrant platform for art and cinema lovers. The collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Chennai aims to deepen cross-cultural appreciation and introduce the city’s audiences to the artistry of Japanese filmmakers.
