The Indian Pump Manufacturers Association hails Tamil Nadu Budget 2025-26

Chennai, March 2025

The Indian Pump Manufacturers Association President, Mr. K. V. Karthik hails the Tamil Nadu Budget 2025-26 and expressed his gratitude to the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the Honourable Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu, the Honourable District-in-Charge Minister for Coimbatore, Thiru V. Senthil Balaji, and the Honourable Industries Minister of Tamil Nadu, for announcing a centre of excellence for advanced pump manufacturing.

Mr. K.V. Karthik said, “Coimbatore holds a distinct position in the country for its pump manufacturing. The agricultural sector has always been a key market for pumps in Coimbatore, given the country’s reliance on irrigation. Industries like oil and gas, power, water supply, sewage treatment, mines also rely heavily on pumps which are of high value and not manufactured in the country. This Centre for excellence will help the industries to elevate to the next level, by supporting development and manufacture of these high value pumps, which are imported.

In global market, India still is trade neutral in pumps. The manufacturing of such high-end pumps will act as import substitution and create excellent export opportunities thus making trade plus in pump manufacturing. This announcement has the potential to make Coimbatore the ‘Pump City of the World’”.
