DMK’s Engineering Wing is organising a grand oratorical competition in Tamil exclusively for the engineering students across Tamil Nadu in commemoration of the centennial year of Mutthamizh Arignar Kalaignar. The competition offers a grand total of Rs. 60 lakhs in cash prizes for the champions, including the first prize of Rs. 5 lakhs.
In a press release issued by DMK’s Engineering Wing, Mr. S.P.K. Karunanidhi, its State Secretary, commented: “It is Mutthamizh Arignar Kalaignar who laid the foundation for the rapid development of industries and the engineering sector in the state. During his regimes these sectors achieved tremendous growth. Similarly, under the leadership of our Hon’ble Chief Minister, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, who is championing the Dravidian Model of all round growth, the state’s industrial sector is scaling new highs. As the state has been celebrating the centennial year of Mutthamizh Arignar Kalaignar with grandeur, it is befitting for DMK’s Engineering Wing to conduct a state level oratorical competition in Tamil. The competition is open for the participation of UG and PG engineering students, polytechnic and ITI students.”
The competition is scheduled to take place across all 234 assembly constituencies in the first phase. The first and the second prize will amount to Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively, while the third prize will be Rs. 3,000. Additionally, shields and certificates will be distributed to the winners.
The winners of the assembly constituency-level competitions will be able to take part in the zonal-level competitions, which will also feature cash prizes, shields, and certificates for the top three performers. Those who emerge victorious in the zonal level competitions will earn the opportunity to compete in the state-level grand finale, the first prize of which includes Rs. 5 lakhs and a prestigious trophy. Prizes, shields, and certificates will be awarded also to other outstanding participants.
The oratorical competition encompasses various themes, including ‘Kalaignar’s contributions to technical education’, ‘Leader of Tamils and his role in Tamil Nadu’s industrial development’, ‘Dravidian Model and excellence in education’, ‘Sun of the South’, and ‘Tamil and Kalaignar’.
