The Dakshin Chennai Prabashi Cultural Association (DCPCA) organises it’s first ever TARPAN Rituals for its Members

“DCPCA is privileged to host the Mahalaya Tarpan as a group for the first time in Chennai” – DCPCA President Mr. P.H Shivram

Tarpan is offered during Pitru Paksha when the deceased are believed to visit earth and bless their kin.

The welcome shower in the early morning today made the Mahalaya Tarpan rituals more auspicious. There was a good turnout of members led by Mr.Amitrajit Ghosh – Executive Committee Member, DCPCA.

The ritual is believed to be performed near a water body. Hence, DCPCA chose to organise this at the Akkarai Beach on the ECR.

The priest began by explaining the history and significance of this ritual of Tarpan for the benefit of all present and then commenced with the offerings.

“Seeking blessings of the departed and the ancestors before the commencement of the Durga Pooja is a great beginning. DCPCA wishes everyone a Happy Sharodiya Utsav / Durga Pooja!” – Mr.Amitrajit Ghosh, Executive Committee Leader of DCPCA
