We are proud to announce the successful completion of two Deceased Donor Liver Transplantations (DDLTs) at Saveetha Hospital, Chennai marking another significant milestone in our commitment to providing advanced care for patients with end-stage liver disease.
The recipients, Mr.Amit Saha, a 37-year-old from Kolkata and Mrs.Viswabarathi, a 67-year-old from Chennai, were suffering from decompensated chronic liver disease with portal hypertension. Doctors advised that liver transplantation was the only definitive treatment for both patients. The liver transplantations were conducted under the expertise of Dr.J.Nirmal, Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant, Saveetha Hospital along with his team. The complex surgery that went on for 10 hours was performed successfully on May 24, 2026 and June 4, 2026 respectively.

Both patients had uneventful postoperative recoveries with excellent graft function under the care of our multidisciplinary transplant team and continue to show steady clinical improvement.
