Chennai, September 2022: The eighth edition of “ALERTATHON 2022,” the world’s only endurance event to save lives, is being organised by ALERT, a voluntary non-profit organisation that works to make the “Right to life” a reality in India. ALERTATHON, the organization’s trademark walking, running, and cycling event, promotes safety, first aid and emergency care awareness in society while working to guarantee that everyone receives training in vital life-saving skills. ALERTATHON 2022 will be in a new avatar which will be held virtually for the Global Audience and for the participants from other states and the physical event on 9thOctober 2022 in Chennai in association with the Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) and the Greater Chennai Police.
There are three timed run categories: a 5 km, 10 km, and a 2.5 km x 4- chain of the survival team relay. The run will start at the Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts & Science for Women in Adyar at 5:30 am and will end at the same venue. The cyclingevent will be split into two distances: 25 km and 50 km. It will start at Dr MGR Janaki College of Arts & Science for Women in Adyar at 5:00 am and end there. Participants will have the chance to learn emergency response skills and save lives. ALERTATHON Virtual event will be held from 8th October to 16th October 2022. ALERTATHON physical event will be held in Chennai on 9th October 2022.
Speaking about ALERT, Mr. Mike Muralidharan, Chairman, ALERT, said, “For the past 16 years, ALERT has trained over 1,85,000 ordinary people as first-responders through various initiatives reaching out to audiences from all walks of life in India. ALERT is marching steadily towards the goal set by the legendary former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “to train one in every family in emergency response.”

Encouraging more people to join in the campaign, Mr. Kapil Kumar Satarkar IPS, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Chennai said, “Happy to inform that ALERT in association with GCTP is organising the marathon, cycling and biking with the motto of ‘saving lives’ aimed at road safety and first response. I call upon all to join in this noble cause by participating in the activities and being ambassadors for the same.”
