CHENNAI — In a major initiative aimed at early detection and preventive healthcare, the Rotary Club of Ambattur recently organized a comprehensive Cancer Awareness and Screening Programme at the Rotary Ambattur Hospital. The camp was conducted with the expert clinical support of doctors and healthcare professionals from Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Porur.

The high-impact screening drive focused on three critical areas of cancer prevention, providing free specialized diagnostic procedures to attendees:

• Oral Cancer Screening: Visual examinations and evaluations for early identification of oral pre-cancerous lesions.

• Breast Cancer Screening: Mammogram screenings to ensure early detection of breast tissue abnormalities.

• Cervical Cancer Screening: Pap smear tests performed by specialist gynecologists to detect precancerous changes.

The event was led and organized under the leadership of Rtn. Ajitha Balan, Director of Community Service – Health, whose efforts ensured smooth operations and broad community outreach.

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, Club President Dr.Winston emphasized the vital importance of early intervention in saving lives, noting that community-based screening drives are key to overcoming barriers to preventive care.

The successful execution of the camp was made possible through the collaboration of key leadership, including Rotary Ambattur Hospital Chairman Rtn. Udaya Bhanu, along with Dr. Magai and the dedicated team of medical staff from Sri Ramachandra Medical College.
